Pokémon Generation 1
This set has been extensively playtested and balanced with both draft and constructed formats. Sorry about the complete clash of the use of Evolve with mainstream MTG. This set was created before RtR was released.
All credit for art goes to the artist listed on the cards, or Nintendo for clips from the Anime.
Rules:
Being a pokémon set, there are a few rule changes to the greater MTG game when playing this set, as follows:
- All Pokémon are creatures. This is to be explicit about the following type rule, without making the card types too wordy.
- Pokémon that have type-immunity in the games have a corresponding immunity in this set. They cannot be targeted by a spell or ability, enchanted or dealt damage by a source of that type. They can, however, still be blocked (assuming they could be blocked normally). This is still considered "protection" (e.g. Zapdos and Foresight will remove it), although normal protection still prevents blocking. Type immunities are:
- Flying immune to Ground
- Ground immune to Electric
- Dark immune to Psychic
- Steel immune to Poison
- Ghost immune to Normal and Fighting
- Normal immune to Ghost
- Evolve - You can sacrificed the unevolved pokémon as an alternate cost to cast the evolved pokémon.
- Metronome - You reveal the top two cards of your library, and your opponent chooses one. If they choose a spell, you get to cast it for free. The rest go on the bottom of your library.
- Intimidate - This creature can't be blocked except by colorless creatures and/or creatures that share a color or Pokémon type with it. Same as the normal Intimidate, except replaces artifact with colorless and includes Pokémon type as well as color.
- Transform - Specifically for Ditto, Transform lets Ditto become a copy of any other target creature at the beginning of each of your upkeeps.
These being said, enjoy the pokémon set! (You can click a thumbnail and use arrow keys to navigate a slideshow)
